Nowhere Man | Pancake Club
I was very recently invited* down to Nowhere Man with Jess to review their Pancake Club and, as we knew would need the pick me up, we chose to visit the morning after the Brighton Girl Halloween Party. Boy, were we right. Struggling to walk in a straight line and with remnants of last night’s makeup, we met at the cafe in Upper North Street with our boyfriends and Pippa in tow.
Now, if you’ve been to Nowhere Man before, you’ll recognise the eclectic collection of 70’s and retro crockery and furniture put together by owner Andrew, all of which create an enviable Instagram visual and transport you into another time.
We settled into the soft brown leather furnishings and perused the pancake menu, all the while moaning that our hangovers were creating ridiculous feelings of indecisiveness because everything just looked so good. On top of their already varied menu, Nowhere Man offer both vegan and gluten free pancakes for just £1 extra, as well as side options including banana pancakes and fruit compote.
Needing a slightly salty fix, both Brandon and I settled on the Intermediate Pancakes, a three stack of pancakes with smoked bacon and maple butter. I also opted for the obligatory flat white, whilst Brandon had an OJ. The five of us eagerly awaited our pancake saviours, whilst discussing highlights from the previous night (all of which, by the way, you can check out on Brighton Girl’s Facebook page).
Soft and fluffy, with a slight sweetness to the batter, the pancakes were a dream and we wasted no time in diving into our stacks. The bacon rashers were the perfect amount of crisp, whilst still being full of flavour and retaining a slight chew to it – I am not a fan of overly crispy bacon! Sweet maple butter and salty smoked bacon made the perfect partners for this pancake stack and I inhaled the lot. They, whoever they are, always say the food must be good if you’re eating in silence, and there certainly wasn’t a lot of chatter as we battled through our brunch.
I love how chilled and inviting Nowhere Man always feels, with great music and of course, the amazing decor to give you serious interior envy. Plus, you can always chat with the team, who are very down to earth and friendly – and make a damn great flat white, using the ever popular Horsham Coffee Roaster.
As a third place, Nowhere Man ticks all of the boxes for me: food, coffee, atmosphere, interior and team ✅ I only wish that I lived closer to it!
So, have you been along to Nowhere Man yet? Check out their Instagram for cool retro shots and serious pancake game.
*We were invited to Nowhere Man for a review, meaning that our food and drink was free of charge on this occasion. Of course, all thoughts and opinions are my own!
